Welcome to Little Miami Home Health Care, LLC. My name is Linda Mitchell. Little Miami Home Care started in 1993. I started working here in 1996 when my youngest son was in kindergarten. I was looking for something to do 2-3 days a week for a couple hours. My first case was with a lady who was 101 years old. She was in assisted living and didn’t have any family. I went 3 days a week and played cards with her. We played 7-up and the rules of the game seemed to change every day but I just went along with it. I enjoyed that case so much, I started picking up more work and before I knew it I was working 40 or more hours.
Other than my husband and my 3 boys, my family was all out of state but before long the clients that I cared for became part of my family. I didn’t feel like it was a job, it was just caring for my family. After a little while, I was asked to come into the office to help with scheduling and other office duties. I didn’t want to give up working with the clients, so I worked part time in the office and still continued working with the clients. As time went by and my boys got older, I went back to school to become a RN. I worked a year in the hospital while still working for Little Miami Home Care. After a year, I started working with our sister company at the time, doing skilled nursing visits for our clients. As time went by the owner of Little Miami Home Care decided she wanted to be semiretired so she asked me to work more in the office to help her run the company. In 2019, I bought the company from her and continue providing assistance to our clients.
When I was in my late 20’s, my Mother and Father in law went through some difficult times. They both slipped through many cracks due to their medical conditions along with financial conditions. I remember how helpless my husband and I felt as we tried to get assistance for them. When I go out to visit a family who are feeling hopeless, I understand how they feel. This is one of my favorite parts of my job, to be able to give hope to our clients and their families.
I have not only worked with the best clients while I have been here, I have also been lucky enough to work with the best team of caregivers. We all work as a team and we are more like family than co-workers. Many of the caregivers that work with us, have been here for almost as long as I have. Many of us are mothers and the flexibility of this job has made it possible for us to raise our children, and now grandchildren while doing something we enjoy. I couldn’t ask for a better group of servant hearts to work with.
